We did it! The Class of 1974 celebrated its official 35th with buddies from the two "shoulder" classes of 1973 and 1975. The combo reunion was a magical (and glittery!) affair.

It would be great to know who else is staying at the Westport Inn. I will be there Fri. and Sat. nights. Have a ca. 5pm Int'l flight out of JFK Sunday, so will have to pass on afternoon activities. Anyone up for something beforehand?

Hotel Room Block

I have just hung up w/the Westport Inn (the old "New Englander?" ) and they have set aside a block of 10 rooms for those of you needing accommodations for the reunion weekend.

DETAILS: 5 'deluxe' rooms @ $139 a night (one king bed only) and 5 'traditional' rooms (two queen beds) @ $119 per night. Check-in Friday and check-out Sunday (though if you require an additional night it's all good). 'Deluxe' rooms are 30% larger than 'Traditional' and boast interior entrances, a small fridge and probably just fancier or whathaveyou amenities and are around the pool.

They are sending me a contract, so beginning next week you can start calling in your reservations @ 1-800-446-8997. You need to give the "code": WHS '74 - to receive the discount and all reservations must be made BY SEPT. 17th. The woman I spoke w/is named Kathy and the non 800 # is 203-763-4645.

35 YEARS?!

Well, that seems improbable. Most days. Until I look in the mirror and discover that somebody stole my 17-year-old face and body and replaced it with an early 50's mother of four. But all I have to do is hop into my red Mustang convertible with the "JUBUT" plates (yes, I know, kind of obnoxious and fun all in one) and take off in the direction of the woods of Weston, and those 35 years melt away. Lots of memories bombard, from those early days on the jungle gym at Hurlbutt to those awkward 6th grade dances in the music room, to the drama of breaking up with Durrett. And plenty more in between: the good, the bad and the cringe-worthy.

There were a lot of faces at our 30th five years ago, and the hope is to see those same ones, plus many, many others from the classes that surrounded the class of '74. Will we recognize one another? Be able to see the boy or girl in the 50-something face? Chances are we will...

DANCES

Oh those 6th grade dances! Wendy Lambert and I used to go to them together. Our high school dances were great though! My kids were amazed that we had live bands playing them. We're planning to make the October reunion! The combined class reunion in Trumbull in '93 was a lot of fun.
